Nike+iPod Sports Kit ($29 + special “nike+” shoes) to access distance, time, pace and calories burned on the screen of a nano version of the iPod via a sensor inside the shoes that communicates with the ipod. Then you can upload your data and connect with others. They also plan to offer a sport music section on iTunes. (Tune Your Run on Apple, Nike Plus)
Nike currently offers free 30 minute workout mixes (updated monthly) on NikeWomen. You can listen to them streaming on site or download the whole thing as one mp3. It’s a fun way to try some new music and keep a continuous high energy level going. May’s mix track list is pictured below.
Other records that we’re loving running to this season are the Arctic Monkeys’ Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not and the Go! Team’s Thunder, Lightning, Strike. We are always listening for new tunes to love, so please send in your suggestions!


A cheerful and useful “Runners’ Station” has popped up on the Hudson River Park at West & Canal offering shelter and seats, bandages, lockers, beverages and biscuits along with info on races and other community news.Hudson River Park now offers free wi-fi from Horatio to Clarkson streets. Sweet!
