xeni’s tibet tech trek

Images Xeni-Shoot-Jokhang ThXeni Jardin, a co-editor of Boing Boing, recently trekked across India, Tibet and China to explore how technology is changing the lives of Tibetans inside and outside their homeland.
Her trek blog links to each of the radio (“Hacking the Himalayas” at NPR), print (at wired), video and online reports she’s filed from the trip along with all the how-tos of life on the road and reviews of the production hardware and software she tested. (Curious to learn if she had altitude issues with equipment as we did at Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar?) Thanks for the introduction to Lobsang Wangyal’s site and stories.

Also enjoying pictures and reports from Molly Wright Steenson’s explorations of tech + culture in Bangalore, India with Microsoft Research and CKS (Center for Knowledge Societies) this summer.

And while we’re on the subject of photography in India, I’d be remiss if I didn’t share the fabulous photographs of 50mm that light up my flickr stream.
